How the calculation works
Employee PF is 12% of basic pay plus DA. If the wage ceiling applies, PF is worked out on a maximum of ₹15,000, so the employee pays at most ₹1,800 a month.
Employer PF is also 12%, split in two: 8.33% goes to the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS), capped at ₹1,250 a month, and the rest goes to EPF.
ESI applies when gross pay is ₹21,000 a month or less. The employee pays 0.75% and the employer pays 3.25%.
